October 14th - 17th: European Social Forum, London

SMASH CAPITALISM - against precarity - reclaim flexibility

Third EUROPEAN SOCIAL FORUM in London

The European social Forum 2004After Florence (2002) and Paris (2003) this year tenthousands activists will meet in London. The ESF is a unique opportunity, where social movements, unions, NGOs, anti-racist initiatives etc. from all over Europe and the World come together and discuss, how "another world" can be made possible. More Info on the offical ESF website.

On the other hand there has been massive critique, how the concrete preparation process in London took place - especially concerning the dominance and the undemocratic behaviour of some organisations. We are in solidarity with the struggle of the so called 'horizontals' to defend the open charcater of the ESF and to prevent a instrumentalisation by certain political parties. More Info on that can be found here.

Together with the NORTHEUROPEAN ANTICAPITALIST NETWORK (NEAN) we actively participate in the preparation of seminars and workshops both inside and outside the ESF in London. An overview of the workshops, seminars and meetings can be found here.

Especially we want to promote the seminar "The demagogic use of anti-globalisation phrases by the far right", that takes place on Saturday 11.30 - 1.30 inside the official programm. Translation will be available in English, French and German. AVANTI will report about the situation in Germany and present some thoughts, how our movement should react on fascist threat. More info about the seminar ...

Inside the big International Demonstration on Sunday there will be an ANTICAPITALIST BLOCK. The NEAN-groups have agreed on the common slogan "SMASH CAPITALISM - against precarity - reclaim flexibility" for this block. The Anticapitalist Block is open for the participation of more groups and organisations. A premiinary version of a written call can be found here.
